Job Description:

This position is responsible for supporting the Duke Energy Corporate Archives and the Enterprise Records Center. Responsibilities include aiding in the planning and relocation of the Corporate Archives historical collection, as well as assisting with the scanning and/or indexing of business records into the appropriate databases. The objective of this position is to provide a successful candidate a means of using their knowledge of the fundamentals of history, archives, or records management through observation and hands-on experience in the Corporate Archives and Enterprise Records Center. This position meets this objective through a number of strategies:

Job Responsibilities:

  • Review, edit, and update database records.
  • Scan and index records into the appropriate databases for desktop access.
  • Assist the Archivist and Senior Archivist in preparing the Corporate Archives collection for relocation.
  • Assist the Enterprise Records Center team coordinate the proper storage, retrieval, retention, and disposition of business records in accordance with approved company Records policies and standards.
  • Help identify and assess the archival value of artifact collection.
  • Assist with the maintenance of technical libraries.
  • Perform data cleanup and streamlining in appropriate databases.
  • Inventory and generate written description of materials.
  • Prepare artifacts for storage or shipment.

Job Requirements:

  • Currently a sophomore or junior enrolled and pursuing a four-year degree in History, Art History, Public History, Library Sciences, and Information Management from an accredited college or university.
  • Must have a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher

Qualification & Experience:

  • Able to work a minimum of full time summer (i.e. 8-10 weeks, 40 hours a week)
  • Ability to multi-task and work across various internal and external customers to achieve goal
  • Demonstrated experience with, or knowledge of, the fundamentals of public history, archives, or records management
  • Strong computer reporting skills
  • Self-motivated

  • Strong written and oral communication skills
