Job Description:

Our Corporate Credit Research (CCR) Team performs fixed income research and credit analysis in support of generating net interest revenue within the Schwab investment portfolio. CCR analysts also assess the credit and financial risk of other counterparties for Schwab, including vendors, tenants, trading counterparties, as well as other firms and individuals. As an analyst, you will work within our research team, helping to determine which investments to purchase as well as ensuring the maintenance of strong credit quality for key Schwab vendors. This role encompasses significant responsibility and growth opportunities.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Monitor macroeconomic and geopolitical environments for any potential impact to our business
  • Demonstrate progress in becoming a reliable expert in your assigned sectors over time
  • Articulate and support independent credit assessments through both written reports and presentations
  • Coordinate and communicate effectively with other Schwab groups, including the ability to question and challenge information when needed
  • Assign and monitor internal ratings for all counterparties within your coverage
  • Assist the broader Corporate Credit Research Team in areas such as broker-dealer analysis, regulatory engagements, and reporting
  • Be able to analyze and communicate multiple facets of corporate credit quality, including business overview, financial health, peer comparisons, and industry outlooks

Job Requirements:

  • Well-developed organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communications skills, both oral and written, to interact with outside analysts, business partners, and senior management at Schwab
  • Demonstrated ability to use good judgment and to work independently
  • A sound and high level understanding of global macroeconomic factors and current events

Qualification & Experience:

  • 1-2 years of relevant credit experience, preferably with exposure to corporate bonds
  • Strong accounting knowledge, familiarity with financial statements, and financial analysis skills
  • Passion for business and financial markets, following market trends and must love research
  • Bachelor’s degree or business equivelent required. Progress towards CFA
