Job Description:
- We are looking for a creative copywriter to join our studio. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced writer and editor to help us bring the benefits of great design and thoughtful messaging to the public sector.
- You’ll be working at the heart of the strategy team, developing everything from compelling insight-driven campaign messaging to refining copy for a range of communications. You’ll work in a unique central government environment on accounts that make a difference to people’s lives. As part of the strategy team, you will be line managed by the head of strategic planning, and have responsibility for one copy editor.
Job Responsibilities:
- presenting finalised ideas and concepts to clients, explaining clearly and confidently why the creative work is on brief
incorporating client feedback amending content accordingly - working alongside the design team to deliver brand guidelines to clients
- providing expert advice and hands-on delivery to clients on appropriate tone of voice, editorial style and brand positioning
- ensuring we always make a difference in our work and challenging briefs that are not an effective use of public money
helping clients establish a tone of voice that rings true to their organisation or brand building and maintaining strong, long-lasting client relationships - managing multiple projects at once, allocating time effectively and communicating progress to the client team or directly to clients
- working with designers to help articulate their creative ideas
meeting with new and existing clients to discuss and develop briefs and determine what level of editorial support may be required - Articulate the strategic element and benefit of our expertise to external clients
generating distinct, multi-platform campaign copy in response to briefs, from social media content calendars to snappy video scripts to compelling blogs and user-focused website content
Job Requirements:
- degree or other qualification in English or a related subject such as publishing, media or journalism or equivalent practical on-the-job experience
- strong track record of developing campaign-messages, copy editing and proofreading
- understanding of adapting tone and style to a range of mediums, from social to web to adverts to print materials
- creative flair and originality
- excellent written English, including accurate spelling, grammar and punctuation
- familiarity with accessibility principles and guidelines
- experience creating editorial style guidance for organisations
- experience working with designers on a range of creative projects
- tact and diplomacy when negotiating changes with authors
- ability to maintain the author’s voice after editing
- good IT skills – including editing using Adobe Creative Cloud
concentration, accuracy and the ability to work under pressure - proven ability to manage multiple projects at a time while playing strict attention to detail, deadlines and budget
the ability to prioritise under tight deadlines to help make a difference to every project, whatever the size
good commercial awareness to monitor cost effectiveness - ability to grasp client needs and consider practical solutions
excellent communication and written skills – confidence to present and explain ideas to clients
