Job Description:

Plans, directs, coordinates and evaluates in-service orientation and continuing education programs for professional nursing personnel. Develops schedules and conducts training programs for staff development. Demonstrates and provides instruction in improved methods of nursing service and procedures. Orients new staff members and provides refresher training as needed. Supervises, monitors and co-ordinates the daily activities of staff in an assigned work area in similar or related disciplines. Receives assignments in the form of objectives. Manages activities of a team that are moderately complex to complex. Develops and directs work schedules and monitors work flow to achieve established goals and objectives.; Within Sales function, defined area of responsibility may be by territory and/or account(s). Supervises team members who perform assigned tasks. Decisions will impact the direct workgroup, and failures to achieve may impact medium-term goals and deadlines of department. Communicates departmental goals to workgroup. Supports employees with customer relations issues and key negotiations.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Supervision and oversight of all nurse educators and sr. nurse educator within assigned region.
  • Partners to organize training on new indications and process for the Nurse Educators
  • Monthly or every other month field travel with each nurse to assess and evaluate their communication and presentation in the MD office/clinic
  • Makes recommendations on nurse educator and program needs for continual success
  • Manage the day to day scheduling of Nurse Educators in their territory.
  • Communicates the progress, challenges and accomplishments of nurses and of the program to all parties
  • Evaluates each nurse educator territory for adequate coverage and in-service needs
  • Explains goals, expectations to the Nurse Educator team (communication management of a remote team)
  • Work with the Program Management and Merck to decide the most efficient allocation of nursing resources.

Job Requirements:

  • Active nursing license to be in good standing in at least one state in which the in-services are being conducted.
  • Valid motor vehicle license and proof of insurance.
  • Active member of Oncology Nursing Society (ONS)
  • Ability to travel, including overnight travel. Amount of travel varies by territory but may be up to 100% travel.
  • Oncology Nursing Certification (OCN) preferred
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Must have good communication, speaking, and writing skills.

Qualification & Experience:

  • At least 3 years nurse educator experiencing within pharma or a hospital setting.
  • At least 2 year’s management experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Must have at least five (5) years of recent oncology nursing experience and at least five (5) years of general nursing experience that includes, but is not limited to direct patient care, physical assessment, patient education, group in servicing, and proficiency in peripheral IV access.
  • Chemotherapy infusion experience is a must.
