Job Description:
Under limited supervision, directs the construction, rides maintenance and facilities maintenance functions of the park, ensuring a safe environment for guests and employees. Assists as needed with research, development and implementation of new ride concepts at all Cedar Fair parks to support the company’s strategic objectives. Develops and implements work schedules and practices which allow for the continuing safe operation of all park equipment, buildings and attractions. Supervises and reviews the work of subordinate managerial and support staff. Performs related administrative, supervisory and technical duties as required.
Job Responsibilities:
- Plans, directs and supervises the physical plant operations of the Park, including design and construction, facilities/grounds maintenance and the rides maintenance departments.
- Supervises duties of subordinate managerial and administrative support staff.
- Supervisory duties include instructing; assigning, reviewing and planning work of others; maintaining standards, coordinating activities; allocating personnel; selecting new employees, acting on employee problems; recommending and approving employee promotions, transfers, discipline, discharge, and recommending salary increases.
- Oversees and conducts research and development in the preparation and implementation of capital projects; ensures projects are completed within established time frames and in accordance with specifications, contracts, budget allocations, regulations, and standards of quality and safety.
- Develops and administers the department’s annual budgets; approves expenditures. Participates in the development of long‑range plans and budgets for the Park.
- Serves on the Ohio State Ride Safety Advisory Council.
- Maintains an up‑to‑date database of project needs and costs for planning purposes.
- Reviews reports submitted by subordinates; takes action as necessary. Coordinates department activities and projects with other Park departments and the corporate office.
- Develops and implements work schedules and practices which allow for the continuing safe operation of all Park equipment, buildings and attractions.
- Reviews the work of subordinates for completeness and accuracy; evaluates and makes recommendations as appropriate; offers advice and assistance as needed.
- Provides opportunities for effective training and professional development for staff members.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in industrial technology or management, engineering, or related field
- 6 ‑ 10 Years Related Experience park operations and/or construction/maintenance management
- Ability to work nights, weekends and holiday periods to meet business needs.
Qualification & Experience:
- Ability to pass a mandatory (or random) drug test, per Company policy, unless prohibited by state or provincial law.
- Ability to pass a background check, if 18 years of age or older, which may include, but is not limited to, credit, criminal, DMV, previous employment, education and personal references, per Company policy, unless prohibited by federal, state, or provincial law.
- Candidates with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities will also be considered for this position.
