Job Description:
To assist the Section Manager in leading Team members, coordinating and delegating workflow and overseeing day to day operation of area; promoting cooperative team relationships, establishing and modifying priorities, gathering metrics, generating reports, overseeing work for multiple job classifications, etc. Occasionally performing various warehousing functions at a Caterpillar warehouse/distribution facility. Additionally, daily safety and quality responsibilities are expected.
Job Responsibilities:
- Deliver training in the ‘Simulated Work Environment’ to support new hires and existing employees
- Coordinate with logistics and external carriers to set up expedited shipments
- Take ownership of documenting all defects for each gate (Check in, Storage, Pull, Schedules, Kitting, other areas as needed)
- Deliver training to new hires and existing employees on safety and onboarding materials
- Manage Safety Continuous Improvement (CI) Cards: review ideas and solutions with the originator and the respective supervisors
- Train associates on BIQ (Built in quality) gate processes
- Lead meetings with multifunctional team to track performance and drive results
- Ensure quality gate(s) are being used per established process. Be visibly present on the floor
- Interface with customer and coordinate voice of customer to logistics team to improve processes
Job Requirements:
- Demonstrated proficiency in mathematical and analytical skills
- Ability to perform a variety of record keeping and reporting functions
- Ability to read/write and interpret documents
- Good attendance record
- Ability to frequently lift and carry material weighing up to 35 pounds for intervals of 15 to 30 minutes
- 6 months to 1 year warehouse and/or order filling experience
- Working with Microsoft Excel, Word, Power point, and Access
- Willingness to deliver training to new hires and existing employees
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
- Ability to maintain accurate and complete records
Qualification & Experience:
- Demonstrated Lean Manufacturing experience
- Ability to perform tasks in a fast-paced team environment
- Previous leadership experience in a manufacturing or logistics operation
- Prior experience with Material Tracking System (MTS) transactions
- Ability to work independently on a computer and basic software systems (ie Microsoft Office Suite)
- Prior experience in a front-line leadership role
- Prior knowledge of various warehouse management systems
- Strong Troubleshooting Skills
