Job Responsibilities:

• Perform aquarium husbandry techniques including taxonomy, record keeping, aquarium filtration, aquarium theory, and emergency procedures.
• Answer guest questions concerning animals.
• Maintain all equipment and area responsibilities on a daily basis.
• Basic water quality testing, chemical additions, salt water make up, pH and temperature testing.
• Consistently practices safe work habits to include the use of personal protective equipment, lifting, and reporting unsafe situations.
• Basic food preparation and feeding of animals in specific aquarium area.
• Assist in basic animal transports both in and out of park.
• Utilize proper aquarium maintenance techniques for algae removal, display diving, and aquarium decorating.
• Assist with minor repairs to aquarium filtration systems.
• Maintain safe and sanitary work areas and animal environments.

Job Requirements:

• Have a valid driver’s license and be able to obtain a SEA driver’s license.
• Be able to complete provided CPR training/certification.
• Pass SeaWorld swim/dive test.
• Have a B.S. in Biology, Marine Science or related field
• Have at least 1½ years of experience as an Aquarist II or equivalent experience.
• Have a High School diploma or equivalent.
• Be at least 18 years old.

Qualification & Experience:

• Have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Be willing to comply with and ensure team members comply with all SEA grooming guidelines and employment standards.
• Consistently practices safe work habits including, but not limited to the use of personal protective equipment, lifting and reporting of unsafe situations.
• Be able to stand for long periods of time.
• Be willing to work a flexible schedule to include weekdays, weekends, evenings, and holidays.
• Be able to successfully complete all legal, company and department training requirements to include but not limited to passing required tests and certifications within established timelines.
• Provide excellent service to guests and team members.
• Be able to lift, push or pull 50 pounds.
• Be able to stand, walk, and work for prolonged periods of time in extreme weather conditions.
